Slutbox was down for a while as I moved. It's up again for anyone to have a go at. I am pondering an emulator-based wargame with more than one box that should be more dynamic and easier for me to manage (the slutbox is a couple of kilometers away from me so I probably won't be updating it).

Ahojvole was trying to exploit peercast for quite some time and finally (obviously) managed to do it and obviously got root afterwards as well. This is the most thoroughly pwned state that the slutbox has ever been in. Could you disclose how exacly you did it?

UPDATE: reportedly there was a bit of direct disk access involved in getting root.

I just noticed an 'index.php' in shaaly's home directory that I didn't put there (plus changed password for him). Someone has been doing something fishy (which is good). My current guess is, that this stuff was via the peercast exploit some time around 18th April or so. I cleaned it up for now, so others don't just use it. Anyways, I think it's safe to say that I've been owned.

Well, I got the other NIC but apparently forgot to post here. The box is up indeed and has been quite for a while.

The box is down for now. I'll bring it back up in a couple of hours, need to get another NIC.

I've put up a phpbb2 forum for discussions about slutbox and shit like that. Feel free to use it.

Well, I put the box up again and it's playable. hints removed.

I'm "In The Army Now" and really can't be bothered with the slutbox. Possibly, after finishing my current course (around christmas), I'd be able to get internet connectivity and keep the box running. Until then, too bad.

I haven't finished punching holes into the system just yet, but some are there already (I haven't closed anything).

Please don't rm -rf / should you gain root, as I haven't saved the image (as it is work in progress). Thanks!
